ABOUT

Music is life itself

Meri Kahani (my bio)

Music has been my passion and hobby since childhood.

My formal training in music started in Mumbai at the age of nine with Professor David Satamkar.  My other Gurus were music director Ahmed Darbar;  Khan Sahib Mehdi Hassan and celebrated Toronto vocal trainer, Bill Nahr.

Although my initial training was in Indian Classical singing, my interest has gradually shifted to singing  Geet and Ghazal.

In spite of my strong love for music, my profession and career progression understandably remained my main focus . .  . . .  until my retirement.

I am a Manufacturing engineer by profession – graduated from Trent University, Nottingham, UK; and now retired.

Noorjehan, my wife was born and brought up in Mombasa, Kenya.

During my professional life in Engineering and Operations Management roles, I have worked and lived in United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and USA.

These international travels also  gave me an opportunity to perform on Radio in India (during my early childhood) and on TV in Canada. I have given numerous solo concerts and performances in England, Canada, India, East Africa, Sydney (Australia) and in United States of America.

I now reside in Toronto, Canada.
